Stop Chasing Chickens and Let the Fences Do the Work: Data Supported Service Policies in Action
Library systems are complicated. User behavior is complex. Typically libraries frame policy conversations with assumptions or anecdotes memories of problematic transactions. Do policies achieve the desired outcome? Can we demonstrate these policies efficacy and, if not, how do we engaged in policy re-think based on different assumptions. Learn how three large academic libraries applied sets of data measuring clearly defined activity consistently collected over a long period of time to rethink and revise their policies. See how they improved the efficacy of their policies and reduce busywork for: consortial lending invoices, loan periods, blocks, and recalls as well as reducing the number of not picked up items by the customers.
