Reformatting Library Services: Providing Service to Patrons with Disabilities
The role of libraries has changed a great deal over the past years, with Access Services implementing more developed and seamless services to more patrons every day. Alternate formats is one area that brings many challenges to provide the best quality of service to users. In response, Syracuse University Libraries have made committed efforts to identify and meet the needs of patrons with disabilities. In partnership with others on campus, the Libraries have embarked on a journey to further expand our services to patrons. This session will present:

1) Syracuse University Libraries’ efforts to provide accessible reformatted texts for patrons in need of this service
2) Integration of ILLiad and interlibrary loan procedures
3) Challenges of reformatting text
4) Accessibility for course reserve items
