Document Delivery Services Usage at Medium-Sized University with Graduate Student Programs

Bradley University is a medium sized university, and to meet the research needs of its patrons the library uses three types of document delivery services: ILLiad, Get It Now and purchasing directly from the publishers. Get It Now was implemented in 2012 to supplement the collection because of large serials cancellations. During this time period, the university established several new graduate programs, and the library has become dependent upon document delivery services in particular for fields that were not traditionally covered by the library’s collections to meet the needs of these students. Previous studies at Bradley University have shown that the graduate students request the most articles per capita, and the rise in graduate student population has correlated with a rise in requests for articles through document delivery services.
